Learn Music and Dance at the Temple of Fine arts

The Temple of Fine Arts has had innumerable graduates in dance and music who had gone on to achieve greater things for themselves at home and abroad. Most started at a very young age, but these days, there are many who come to us as mature students to satisfy their inner need for self expression through dance and music.



Classess Offered:

Indian Classical Dance forms:

Bharathanatyam
The course comprises 5 stages. The beginner learns basic adavus and introductory dance history and theory before moving onto simple dance items such kauthvams and pushpanjali. Stage Two and Three students learn the alarippu, jathiswaram, and short pieces in abhinaya such as sabdam. Stage Four and Five students essay the varnam and thillana. All students who imminently qualify to sit for the margam or final examinations are encouraged to perform their arangetram or solo debut.


Odissi

The course takes the beginner through basic adavus and introductory dance history and theory before moving into the Odissi repertoire of mangalacaran, pallavi, sthai and finally abhinaya. The course is performance oriented and students are assessed regularly in class, at frequent informal presentations, and finally, in full production projects.



Other additional dance forms:

Contemporary

The course takes the beginner through basic modern and contemporary dance techniques. Alignment, movement, use of space are brought together to create a body that is physically versatile and capable. Initial focus is on building strength and stamina while working on flexibility. 

Bollywood
The course takes the beginner through the fundamentals of various folk dance styles such as Bhill, Santhal, Assam, semi classical Indian, qawwali and dance movements popularised by Hindi films and offers opportunities for both formal and informal performances.
